In January, I took a trip to my second favorite place in the whole world, Las Vegas (number 1 is Disney World).
Many people go to Las Vegas to gamble, others go there to party. I go there to eat.
One of the things I always look forward whenever I go toVegas are the delicious buffets.
Now let me tell you a little about myself. You see, I have a semi-expensive palate meaning that food quality is SO important to me. So with that being said, the buffets I go to in Las Vegas are expensive. And I do mean expensive in terms of buffets. (Now I never said I was rich. I just unfortunately have rich taste.)
My personal favorite is the Bachannal Buffet at the Caesars Palace, which was rate #1 by USA Today.
This buffet is awesome. There are literally so many high quality food options available that you will truly need 26 hours to try everything.
The only downfall is that it costs $48 a head just for dinner. That’s pretty high just for one buffet meal if you ask me.
However after reading up on the buffet, I learned that their lunch buffet had like 80% of the same meal options but at $10 cheaper.
So I thought to myself, “hmmm, how do I get the best of both worlds, but at 21% cheaper than what I would normally spend?”
That’s when I discovered the insanely effective, yet SO simple buffet hack.
The Buffet Hack
One thing about most if not all buffets in Las Vegas is that they always have a transitional period where they switch from breakfast to lunch, and lunch to dinner.
Most of these buffets (except the Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan) stay open during this time.
This means that if you’re eating at the buffet at the right time, you’ll see both breakfast items and lunch items in the same buffet line, until the buffet finally switches completely to lunch or dinner.
This is where the buffet hack comes.
The 5 Steps to the Buffet Hack
1. Check the buffet’s hours
Be sure to check what time breakfast ends, and lunch starts, as well as when lunch ends and dinner starts. If the buffet never closes, you’re golden.
2. Plan to arrive at the buffet 30 minutes before lunch or dinner starts.
When you arrive at the buffet 30 minutes before the official switch to lunch or dinner, you’ll be paying the cheaper price. For example if breakfast costs $15 and lunch is$25, and lunch begins at 12 pm, all you need to do is arrive at 11:30 and you’ll only pay $15 for the “breakfast buffet.” You’ll then be able to also try lunch options once they start rolling out.
3. Eat slowly until lunch or dinner
When you come 30 minutes early, you’ll still be able to enjoy breakfast/lunch options, until the official transition is over. With that being said, just pace yourself so that you can enjoy both.
…
That’s it! It’s that simple.
So to sum things up… in order to save a fortune when eating at buffets, just plan to come 30 minutes early than the next transition period that way you can pay the cheapest price possible.
